FYI #050990gn
Question:
Can a remote Macintosh or PC obtain NetWare VMS services by
utilizing the Access Server? In other words, can you dial into
an Access Server and use TES to connect to the VAX running
NetWare VMS?
Answer:
Yes, you can run TES on NetWare Access. Where you will probably
run into problems is if you attempt to run TES in multiple
sessions. From what we could determine, TES opens a hard coded
IPX socket. This is OK for one session, but if multiple sessions
start attempting to open the same socket thats where we run into
problems. We are working with our friends over in San Jose to
see if we can come up with a quick resolution.
I should also mention that the same problem can occur with NASI
on the Access Server. However, we do have a fix for NASI.
Essentially, it is a copy of NASI and NACS that open dynamic
sockets versus hard coded. If anyone needs a copy in order to
allow remote users access to NACS via Access, contact CPD Tech
Support.
